About Me

Hello, as you already know my name is Matt! I'm a full-stack Web Developer currently studying software engineering at Cardiff Metropoliton University. I have been perfecting my skills as a developer for 5 years and plan to never stop improving, I have specific expertise with PHP and the Laravel framework even with experience doing PHP development in the NHS.
Although I do enjoy programming and often do it for fun I try to have a good work/life balance, recently I've been playing tennis with my girlfriend as a fun extra way to stay active and I've been active in the gym for the past few years. I moved to Bristol in September of 2023 with my girlfriend into our first home, a small flat in the heart of Kingswood. Naturally there have been plently of DIY jobs and new skills for me to learn to make it ours.

Favorite Projects

Script Villa

I created "Script Villa" to put my web design and devlopment skills to the test in a realistic use case. As I was creating a website aimed at a tech area I wanted to go for a sleek, modern and smart looking landing page and overall feel. Taking insperation from tech market leaders such as Apple, Google and Samsung's design language.
I am happy with the final outcome of the project and feel the landing page is very fitting, hover if i was to pick up the project again I would make some changes to the content of the page as i felt the content cards and boxes dont feel as polished as they could be. The other pages could also use more content.
Overall this project was a fun learning experience but was never meant to be perfect.

Explore Cymru

Explore Cymru is an android mobile applicaton I made during my software engineering course at Cardiff Metropoliton University. Its coded in Java using android studio, at the time mobile development was new to me and this was the first mobile applicatoin I had ever made. Dispite this I think the project went exeptionally well and I am happy with the final project. I'm esspecially happy with the masonry grid style layout of the Explore page. (shown on page 17 in document)
However, due to the time limitations of the uni project and size of my inital scope I was unable to comple the final search page this wasnt a requirement for the project although if I was to pick up develpoment again I would want to finalise the project by completing the functionaly.
